DUI Enforcement Task Force Activity

When you hear "The Heat is On," Colorado Law Enforcement agencies mean it. The multi-agency reports show that in the State of Colorado, there were 578 DUI arrests on New Year's Eve and 271 DUI arrests over the 2009 Superbowl weekend. Today is February 25, and the spot has already been created on the Colorado Department of Transportation website to report how many arrests will be reported on St. Patrick's Day.

Law enforcement will be out in force on St. Patrick's Day. Remember, you have rights if you are contacted by the police. Other than answering questions regarding your identification and a particular chemical test (either breath or blood) you have the right to remain silent. Excercise this right.

You also may politely decline to perform any roadside sobriety tests as well as the hand-held, portable breath test that an officer may ask you to perform at the scene of your traffic stop.

If you have already been arrested and charged with an alcohol related driving offense, you need to consult with an experienced Colorado DUI defense attorney as quickly as possible. Some of your rights evaporate after seven days from the date of offense.
